Here’s your weekly roundup of news from the club.
- Club Open 10, Call for volunteers, Sat 13th April: With entries now closed for the club open 10 mile TT, organiser Simon Cox is looking for volunteers to help run and marshal the event. The only real requirement is your time on Saturday afternoon on the 13th April from 1pm. It’s a great way to give back to the club and you will be rewarded with VIP points which can be used to discount club kit. If you can help please email simon.david.cox@gmail.com
- Ewan’s Strava Competition Update: Despite all the rain, 30 members rode up Niall Brown’s Clifton Vale segment in March. Can’t quite believe some of the fastest times – chapeau to Nick Cox for his 1:23. Fastest woman was Katherine Brand 2:29. I’ll send further update after Easter, Neil Frost has chosen April’s segment – https://www.strava.com/segments/1144865
- The Maurice Burton Way book: BSCC’s resident author, Paul Jones, has just published (via Bloomsbury) his latest book ‘The Maurice Burton Way’, the authorised biography of Britain’s first black cycling champion. An inspirational read, you can find an extract here, with signed copies available locally at Storysmith, (although I’m sure PJ would sign a copy bought from any reputable bookshop!).
