This is newsletter number 100! To celebrate we have a competition to win a club cap, delivered to you. All you have to do is guess the total mileage (in miles, not km) covered by the top 100 riders in the BSCC Strava Club during the week ending Sunday 19th May, closest guess wins. You don’t even have to be a Strava user to take part. I’ll give you a clue based on last week – it’s more than 5,000 miles… Entries must be received before midnight on Friday 17th.
Your weekly news round up and notice of events coming soon:
- George Keene Memorial Ride: Next week would have been George’s birthday. He was a lifelong club member, joining we think in around 1947 maintaining 76 years of membership. The plan is to do a mass ride from the usual Sunday Club ride start around to Oxford St. We then stop at Mud Dock to sort into the usual groups. The ride goes to Severn Beach, then off into Wales and back, as George’s old stomping grounds. 75, 65 and 55 mile routes, details in the usual place.
- Chew Lake TT: We only need one helper to guarantee the event for each of the next two weeks. Please put your name down here and we will help you through the process.
- Big rides: More long ones by our members, here are some highlights:
Nick Livermore went Badge Bagging to rack up 300km, and Ruairidh Keeley rode a 200km with Mael Lhostis and tried out a strange pedal system. Didn’t seem to work! Esther did herself a nice little 200km DIY in Wales, and it wasn’t raining! - Club Open 100 TT. Several people needed – it’s the only 100 miler in the West District, so we’d love to make it a big success. The event is on Sunday 11th August, and as it’s a long one we need plenty of people to pitch in please. Email Emily if you can assist please.
- New members: A big #upthesouth welcome to our new members this week: William Adams and Daniel Samson.
