Your weekly news round up and notice of events coming soon:

  1. Chew Lake TT: We have no one to run the Weds evening TT this week. Please put your name down here and we will help you through the process.
  2. Club Meeting: The regular monthly meeting was postponed from today due to the Bank Holiday. You’re welcome to come along to the Rising Sun in Windmill Hill next Monday (13th) at 7pm. Bring your bike through the front door and out the back for secure storage.
  3. Book talk: Our very own multi-published author, hillclimb supporter and erstwhile time triallist Paul Jones is at Storysmith in North Street on Thursday 27th June at 6:30pm to discuss his most recent book The Maurice Burton Way and one of their all-time best-sellers, End To End. Tickets are £5, or £20 to include a discounted copy of his latest book. Buying your ticket in advance really helps with the event organisation.
  4. Big rides: What a difference some dry weather makes! Big rides by our members all over Strava, here are some highlights:
Brevet Cymru 400km audax: Chris GooderhamMeg DickersonMark Salthouse, and another appearance by Adam Whitehead and Thom Proven doing another DIY 400km audax.
  5. Everesting! A correction to the link from last week – a full stop crept in which broke it: Frank Floyd and James Leader are taking on the challenge of Everesting at Cheddar Gorge on Friday 17th May, and it’s for charity. Their Justgiving page is at https://www.justgiving.com/page/frankjamescheddargorge.
  6. Club TT Whatsapp: We want to see if we can build a bit of community around our time triallists. If you already do TTs, or if you’re interested in trying them, there’s a new Whatsapp group for you. Admins will keep content on topic, so you’ll only find TT information in here.
  7. Club Open 50 TT. Still more helpers needed on Saturday July 6th, and we need marshals and HQ helpers. Again, please reply to this email as I (Mark) am the event organiser.
  8. Club Open 100 TT. Same again for the 100 – it’s the only 100 miler in the West District, so we’d love to make it a big success. The event is on Sunday 11th August, and as it’s a long one we need plenty of people to pitch in please. Email Emily if you can assist please.
  9. New members: A big #upthesouth welcome to our new members this week: Diana Gardalits, Tim Shire, and Thomas Bennell
